Lee Steere Classic 2012 – Ascot Racecourse

August 8th, 2012

The Group 3 Lee Steere Classic is due to run at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday December 15, 2012.

Run under set-weight conditions, the 2012 Lee Steere Classic is worth $125,000 in prize money.

The 2012 Lee Steere Classic is run over a distance of 1,400 metres and is open to three-year-old horses only.

Night War won the most recent edition of the Lee Steere Classic by 0.2 of a length last tear in front of Watermans Bay.

The now four-year-old mare placed second in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes prior to her Lee Steere Classic win and went on to place third in a 1,200 metre handicap in her next start.

Night War has won five of her 11 race starts and has earned more than $570,000 in prize money.

A good indicator of 2012 Lee Steere Classic form is the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate for two-year-olds, which was run in March.

Luke’s Luck won this year’s race before also winning the Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes in April.
